Jonathan Milton has extensive practical experience of handling, construction and repairing of sailing and motor boats, which has been gained through ownership of various vessels during his life and through past experience of the marine industry as the manager of a boatyard in Cornwall.
This has given him a wide knowledge of most of the aspects of construction, repair and operation of grp and wooden vessels, which he is able to pass on to the benefit of his clients.
Anyone can call themselves a marine surveyor and start a business. Certain marine surveyors are members of accredited organisations that require members to meet strict professional, technical and ethical standards.
Jonathan Milton is an Accredited Member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association and a serving member of the YDSA Committee.
In order to become a member of the YDSA it is necessary to have trained for a minimum of 5 years and to have undergone a strict intake examination and interview. It is also necessary to have a proven record of professional competence. The YDSA runs a programme of Continual Professional Development participation in which is a requirement of membership.
